A selection of natural dog treats avoiding offal, skins and high purine treats
Under normal circumstances, the majority of dogs are able to efficiently eliminate uric acid from their bodies, maintaining balanced purine levels
Some dogs however, are unable to efficiently metabolize and eliminate excess uric acid leading to the formation of urate crystals or stones in the urinary tract, potentially leading to more serious conditions such as urinary tract infections or even kidney stones.
A low purine diet is often recommended for dogs with conditions such as hyperuricosuria, urolithiasis, certain types of liver diseases and leishmaniasis. A reduced purine diet helps to minimise uric acid and related health issues.
For dogs diagnosed with one of these conditions but you still want to treat them, we have put together this box. We are not medically trained so please check that all contents are suitable for your dog and feed treats sparingly in line with recommendations from your vet.
